My interest in Pokemon TCG Pocket ebbs and flows, but nothing reignites my passion quite like the arrival of a new set. I dive in headfirst, playing fervently to earn those coveted Emblems for reaching around 40 wins. Once I've collected my rewards, my engagement tends to shift to a more casual pace—I log in daily, open my packs, enjoy a quick Wonder Pick, and then set it aside until the next day. However, the cycle of excitement is set to start all over again with the launch of the latest expansion, Shining Revelry, on March 27th.
This expansion is set to enrich the TCG Pocket universe with 110 new cards. Expect a vibrant mix of new Ex Pokemon, Trainer cards, and those stunning art cards that have become a hallmark of the game. The real star of the show, hinted at by the expansion's name, will be the inclusion of Shiny Pokemon. These are unique, differently colored versions of your beloved creatures. For instance, you'll find Lucario in a striking yellow instead of its usual blue, and Pachirisu adorned with a charming pink stripe.
The trailer, which you can view below, offers a tantalizing glimpse of what's in store. A highlight is the new Shiny Charizard Ex, boasting 180 HP and an impressive attack called Steam Artillery, which dishes out 150 damage. The catch is that it requires a hefty five energy. But don't fret—its other move, Stoke, lets you attach three Fire Energy cards in one turn, making it a bit more manageable.
Another exciting addition is the Lucario Ex card. After playing a more supportive role in the previous Space-Time Smackdown expansion, this iteration of the Aura Pokemon is ready to take a more aggressive stance on the battlefield. With 150 HP and the powerful Aura Sphere attack, which deals 100 damage for three Fighting Energy and hits a Benched Pokemon for an additional 30, Lucario is set to be a formidable force.
The trailer also teases other cards that, while not game-changers, are still visually appealing and exciting additions. Shiny versions of Wiglett, Pachirisu, and Varoom are all making their way to the game, each looking more fabulous than the last. Additionally, there's a stunning Tatsugiri art rare that I'm absolutely determined to add to my digital collection.
Pokemon TCG Pocket is readily available for free on both the App Store and Google Play, with in-app purchases available for those looking to enhance their experience. If you're eager to jump in, you can download it for your preferred platform using the buttons below.
