What Is a Tour Pass in *Pokemon GO*?
The Tour Pass is a novel addition to the game, debuting with the Global event for *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova. This pass engages players in completing various tasks to earn Tour Points. These points can then be utilized to unlock rewards, elevate your rank, and enhance event bonuses during the GO Tour Unova event.
The Tour Pass is freely distributed to all players at the start of the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova event, kicking off on February 24 at 10 AM local time. However, for those looking for an elevated experience, there's a paid option called the Tour Pass Deluxe. Priced at $14.99 USD or its local equivalent, this deluxe version offers an instant encounter with Victini, along with "upgraded rewards and faster progression" through the Tour Pass levels.
How Do You Earn Tour Points & What Do They Do?
Tour Points are accumulated through in-game activities reminiscent of the research tasks we've grown accustomed to over the years. These include catching Pokemon, participating in raids, and hatching eggs. Additionally, there are special Pass Tasks that refresh daily during the GO Tour, providing further opportunities to earn points.
By amassing Tour Points, players can unlock a variety of rewards and advance through the Tour Pass tiers. Climbing these tiers not only unlocks items such as Pokemon encounters, candy, and Poke Balls but also increases your rank. Additionally, ranking up enhances your Catch XP bonus during the *Pokemon GO* Tour: Unova event:
- 1.5× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 2
- 2× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 3
- 3× Catch XP upon reaching Tier 4
While Niantic has kept some details under wraps, promising more information closer to the event, we do know that the highest reward tier in the free Tour Pass includes an encounter with Zorua, set against a special background. In contrast, the Tour Pass Deluxe's ultimate reward is a unique item called a Lucky Trinket.
What Is a Lucky Trinket?
Exclusive to the Tour Pass Deluxe, the Lucky Trinket is a coveted final reward that players can earn by dedicating significant time to the GO Tour Global event. This one-time-use item has a magical effect: it can transform one of your friends into a Lucky Friend, allowing you to trade for a Lucky Pokemon without the need to be Best Friends. Note, however, that you must be at least Great Friends to utilize this item.
Lucky Trinkets acquired during GO Tour: Unova will expire on March 9, 2025, making them a limited-time opportunity.
