Is GTA 6 Trailer 2 too good to be true? Some have cast doubt on the fine print at the end of the trailer stating it was captured on PS5, suggesting the footage may have come from a PS5 Pro or a PC. However, Rockstar has clarified this is not the case.
In a social media post, the developer confirmed that GTA 6 Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game on a PlayStation 5, and consists of an equal mix of gameplay and cinematics.
Here is Rockstar’s full statement:
Grand Theft Auto VI Trailer 2 was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.
Knowing this makes GTA 6 even more impressive. The footage in Trailer 2 boasts astonishing detail, and we now know it was running on a five-year-old console. By the time GTA 6 launches on May 26, 2026, the PS5 will be five and a half years old.
The skilled developers at Rockstar are showcasing their expertise once again. However, their mention of gameplay in Trailer 2 raises questions about which sections are interactive. The most notable moment, already identified by the GTA 6 community, appears to be a transition from a cutscene to gameplay when Jason enters his apartment.
Is this where the gameplay begins?
