"Save $44 on Used: Like New PlayStation Portal at Amazon"

Author : Christian Apr 20,2025

The PlayStation Portal has never been offered at a discount, but you can now save on a pre-owned unit. Amazon Resale, formerly known as Amazon Warehouse, is currently selling Used: Like New condition PS Portals for just $156.02, including shipping. This represents a significant 20% saving off the original $199 retail price. While a Sony warranty might not be included, Amazon Resale items come with the same 30-day return policy as new purchases. Given the popularity of this deal, we expect these units to sell out quickly.

Used: Like New Condition

This item looks and functions as if it were new, though moderate packing damage was observed during inspection.

The PS Portal, Sony's innovative handheld gaming accessory for the PS5 console, resembles an extended split-pad DualSense controller with an 8-inch 1080p LCD screen integrated into the center. It transforms your PS5 into a portable gaming device by streaming games from your console at up to 60fps. The controller retains the advanced features of the DualSense, such as haptic feedback, adaptive triggers, and a touchscreen interface that substitutes for the DualSense's touchpad. The Portal enables game streaming beyond your home, provided you have a very stable and fast internet connection. Remember, the PS Portal is not a standalone device; it's designed exclusively as a remote player for the PlayStation 5, requiring a PS5 to operate.

Update: You no longer need a PS5 to play games on the PS Portal. Sony has introduced a new feature allowing owners to stream games directly from its PlayStation Now cloud streaming service, eliminating the need for a PS5. This means Portal users can now choose to connect either to their PS5 or directly to Sony’s cloud servers, accessing over 120 games including titles like Ghost of Tsushima, Resident Evil 3 Remake, The Last of Us Part 1 Remastered, and Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales. Note that you must subscribe to the highest tier of PlayStation Plus to use this feature, which at $18 a month is a more affordable option than purchasing a $500 console and additional games.

It's worth mentioning that the PlayStation Portal isn't the only way to stream your PS5 games over Wi-Fi within your home. You can achieve similar functionality by downloading the PS Remote Play app on a mobile device, including other gaming handhelds like the Steam Deck. However, this setup is more complicated and lacks some of the DualSense's unique features.

PlayStation Portal Review by Seth Macy

"The PlayStation Portal is the most surprising device I've ever come away from loving after initially being skeptical. It offers a vastly superior experience compared to using your phone with a clip-on controller, and it performs much better than I expected. I appreciate the freedom it provides to play my PS5 from anywhere with decent WiFi coverage, particularly when my family is using the TV to play the Switch. However, keep in mind that it's not a standalone device and requires a PlayStation 5 to function. The Portal's biggest limitations are its inability to access WiFi that requires a web browser login and its lack of Bluetooth support for audio. Despite these caveats, it's an excellent device that represents the best current solution for PlayStation Remote Play. If not for these issues, I'd consider it a must-own for every PS5 owner who enjoys handheld gaming or needs to share the household TV."
