Squad Busters' Hero Update Now Live

Author : Eleanor May 14,2025

The latest update for Squad Busters is here, and it's all about the new Hero feature! This update marks a significant shift in gameplay, with Heroes taking center stage and squaddies playing a supportive role. Dive into the action with your Heroes' power moves, upgrade your squaddies, and experience faster, more intense gameplay.

Squad Busters has experienced fluctuating popularity since its release. While it remains a fun and accessible game, reminiscent of a MOBA, it hasn't fully met the expectations set by Supercell. However, this new update might just be the game-changer that draws skeptical players back for another round.

Labeled as the most ambitious update in Supercell's catalog in over 15 years, the new Squad Busters update fundamentally alters its gameplay. The squad is now divided into powerful Heroes and supporting Squaddies. Heroes are the new focal point, equipped with their own abilities and passives, while Squaddies operate similarly to the old units but can now be upgraded mid-match. Additionally, you can attack without halting your squad, though doing so will boost your Squaddies' attack speed.

Squad Busters new Hero update

I need a hero—this update transforms Squad Busters entirely, making your squad more resilient and shifting the gameplay from a pseudo-RTS MOBA to a more traditional MOBA experience. It's now all about leveraging your Heroes' power moves with the support of your Squaddies.

While some may argue that these changes deviate from the original essence of Squad Busters, it's hard to deny their impact. Personally, though I enjoyed Squad Busters initially, I found it challenging to stay engaged. The shift to a hero-centric focus makes player actions more meaningful and impactful.
