PC Release Under Consideration
A PC Version is Being Considered
Shift Up's CFO, Ahn Jae-woo, recently indicated during the company's IPO press conference that a PC version of Stellar Blade is under active consideration. This decision is driven by the desire to further capitalize on the IP's success and the growing popularity of PC gaming within the AAA market. The PS5's current market distribution also factored into this decision.
CEO Kim Hyung-Tae confirmed the review of a PC version, but refrained from providing a release date due to contractual obligations. This aligns with the company's public filings, which mention the possibility of both a PC port and a sequel.
Kim emphasized the company's focus on building a high-value IP with global appeal. This strategy intentionally avoided potentially damaging microtransactions, a commitment they intend to maintain.
Future Updates and Collaborations
Beyond the PC port, Shift Up has outlined a robust roadmap for Stellar Blade updates and DLC. This includes a highly anticipated Photo Mode (August), new costumes (October), and a major collaboration later this year.
Regarding the collaboration with Goddess of Victory: NIKKE, Kim expressed optimism about creating positive synergy between the two IPs.
Impressive Sales Figures
Stellar Blade's success is undeniable. Shift Up reports approximately one million copies sold worldwide within two months of its release. The game also achieved top rankings in major markets like the US and UK across sixty different stores. Furthermore, it boasts the highest user rating for a PS5 exclusive on Metacritic, earning a 9.2/10 score.
