As cameras begin rolling on DC's highly anticipated film, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, excitement is building among fans worldwide. In celebration of this milestone, DC co-chair James Gunn took to Bluesky to share the first glimpse of Milly Alcock as the iconic superhero, Kara Zor-El aka Supergirl.
In his post, Gunn confirmed that production has officially commenced at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden, with acclaimed director Craig Gillespie (Cruella, I, Tonya) leading the charge. Alongside the announcement, he teased a photo of Alcock seated in her actor's chair—a subtle yet thrilling first look at the character.

"Thrilled to see camera roll at Warner Bros. Studios Leavesden on Supergirl, with Craig Gillespie at the helm and the phenomenal Milly Alcock as our Kara Zor-El," Gunn wrote. His update aligns with previous reports that Gillespie will guide the film through its cinematic journey.
Details about the movie remain scarce beyond its inspiration from the critically acclaimed graphic novel Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow by Tom King, Bilquis Evely, and Ana Bourne. The comic follows an alien girl named Ruthye Marye Knoll as she teams up with Supergirl to avenge her father's murder at the hands of the villain Krem of the Yellow Hills. The series earned a nomination for "Best Limited Series" at the 2022 Eisner Awards and remains a must-read for fans.
Milly Alcock steps into the role of Supergirl, following her breakout performance in House of the Dragon. Matthias Schoenaerts will portray Krem, while Eve Ridley plays Ruthye. Supporting cast includes David Krumholtz as Zor-El, Emily Beecham as Supergirl’s mother, and Jason Momoa, who reprises his role in the DC universe as Lobo.
Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow marks the second installment in James Gunn's vision for the new DC Universe, following the release of Superman later this summer. Additional projects in development include The Batman Part II and a potential Clayface film from Mike Flanagan.
