Ubisoft Hypes Assassin's Creed Shadows: A Mixed Reception

Ubisoft Hypes Assassin

It's been quite some time since our last discussion on Ubisoft, and with the upcoming release of Assassin's Creed Shadows next Thursday, the stakes couldn't be higher. The success of this game could be pivotal in shaping the future trajectory of the entire corporation.

Today, Ubisoft's official channel released a new video dedicated to the game. You might expect this to be the launch trailer, but intriguingly, it's labeled as a TV commercial, sparking some curiosity. The video itself is not the issue; it's smooth, cinematic, and visually stunning. However, the choice to push the game through traditional media and then upload a TV ad to Ubisoft's YouTube channel raises some eyebrows. While there's nothing inherently wrong with this approach, it does prompt questions about the marketing strategy. Perhaps this is nitpicking, but it doesn't exactly instill confidence in the game's release.

Speculation aside, the video effectively highlights the contrasting gameplay and combat styles of the two main protagonists. The depiction of Japan is breathtaking, but one shouldn't judge the entire game based solely on a one-minute cinematic. We'll have to wait until the release to get the full picture.
