After a brief stint on the market, Call of Duty: Warzone Mobile is coming to an end. Activision has officially announced that the mobile iteration of the popular battle royale will no longer receive seasonal updates or new content, and as of May 18th, it has been removed from both the App Store and Google Play Store. If you missed the chance to download it by the deadline, you're out of luck as real-money transactions are now disabled, and new downloads are blocked.
The decision to pull the plug comes as a surprise considering the high expectations set for Warzone Mobile, which aimed to deliver the complete Warzone experience to mobile gamers. Despite the studio's satisfaction with how closely the mobile version mirrored its console and PC counterparts, it seems the game didn't quite resonate with the mobile audience in the same way.
For those who already have the game installed, online access will remain open past May 19th. You can continue to play and engage in matchmaking, though social features will be turned off. There's no set date for when the servers will shut down completely. The in-game store will still be accessible, but only for spending existing COD Points—no new purchases can be made.
In a small gesture of goodwill, players with unused COD Points from Warzone Mobile can redeem them in Call of Duty: Mobile. Until August 15th, if you log into Call of Duty: Mobile using the same Activision account, you'll receive double the value of your remaining Warzone Mobile COD Points, plus some extra rewards.
If you haven't installed or reinstalled Warzone Mobile by May 19th, you'll miss your last chance to play. No refunds will be available, marking a disappointing closure to what was meant to be a significant expansion of the Warzone universe. It's a stark reminder that even the most renowned franchises can struggle to maintain long-term success in the mobile gaming arena.
