New Eridu has capitalized on this Ether phenomenon, prompting government bodies, corporations, and even gangs to vie for control and profit. This has led to the rise of Hollow Raiders, adventurers who delve into the Hollows in search of treasures and valuables.
Playable characters in ZZZ are all engaged in activities within the Hollows, showcasing their Ether Aptitudes, which range from sufficient to exceptional. Proxies can form alliances with Agents from diverse backgrounds, including Hollow Raiders, construction firms, private organizations, as well as government and security personnel.

During the Closed Beta Test (CBT), characters were categorized by Attack Type rather than Specialty/Role, which confused many players. HoYoverse has since refined this system, assigning a specific role to each Agent while retaining their Attack Type, which can be viewed in their stat information.
