Runefest 2025: Major Announcements and Sailing Feature Revealed

Author : Sebastian May 06,2025

The gaming world is buzzing with excitement as RuneScape gears up for its first RuneFest since 2019, proving once again that even the most dedicated fanbases can command massive celebrations. RuneFest 2025 is set to be a landmark event for fans of the iconic MMORPG, RuneScape, promising a plethora of new content and features that will keep players engaged well into the future.

For fans of Old School RuneScape, the excitement is palpable with the introduction of three major new features. The most anticipated is the addition of Sailing, the first new skill to be added to the game, allowing players to explore the high seas with a variety of nautical vessels. This new skill promises to open up vast new areas of the game world and introduce a range of engaging activities. Alongside Sailing, players can look forward to challenging new endgame content, including the formidable boss Yama, designed to test the mettle of even the most seasoned adventurers. And to enhance the visual experience without losing the charm of its low-poly graphics, Old School RuneScape is set to receive an HD upgrade.

But the innovations don't stop there. RuneFest 2025 also unveiled Project Zanaris, a modding platform for Old School RuneScape, with playtest sign-ups now open, inviting players to contribute to the game's evolution. On the mainline RuneScape front, the introduction of RuneScape Leagues is set to shake up the gameplay experience, offering new challenges and rewards for players to conquer.

Adding to the excitement is the introduction of Havenhythe, a new region in mainline RuneScape that pits players against deadly Vampyres. This new area will feature new bosses, locations, and skilling activities, providing a rich tapestry of quests and content that will keep players engaged through to 2026.

RuneScape continues to set the standard for MMORPG action on mobile devices. However, if you're looking for alternatives, there are plenty of other engaging MMOs to explore on your smartphone, such as the top 7 games similar to World of Warcraft.
