Sueca is an engaging point-trick card game that is very popular in Portuguese culture.
Sueca is a widely enjoyed point-trick game played in Portugal, Brazil, Angola, Macao, Mozambique, Nagasaki, and Goa. It is a team-based game for four players, with partners sitting opposite each other.
The goal of Sueca is to win the most tricks. It uses a 40-card deck (a standard 52-card deck with the 8s, 9s, and 10s removed). Card ranks from highest to lowest are: Ace, 7, King (K), Jack (J), Queen (Q), 6, 5, 4, 3, 2. Point values are: Ace (11 points), 7 (10 points, called "manilha"), King (4 points), Jack (3 points), Queen (2 points). The remaining cards are worth zero points.
Winning a trick allows a player to collect the point values of all the cards in that trick. Remember, the highest card of the trump suit always takes the trick!
The two-player version of the game is known as Bisca, which is very similar to Sueca. Bisca is also available in this app.
