The iconic role-playing game, Breath of Fire IV, has made a triumphant return to PC, 25 years after its initial debut. Originally launched on the PlayStation in Japan and North America in 2000, and later in Europe in 2001, the game saw a PC port in Europe and Japan in 2003. The storyline centers on Ryu, a man with the unique ability to transform into a dragon, who joins forces with other warriors to thwart an emperor's destructive ambitions.

As part of its Preservation Program, GOG has meticulously updated Breath of Fire IV to ensure compatibility with modern PCs, offering a DRM-free version on its platform. This enhanced release is fully optimized for Windows 10 and 11, featuring both English and Japanese localizations. The game boasts improved graphics, thanks to an upgraded DirectX renderer, alongside new display options such as Windowed Mode, V-Sync, Anti-Aliasing, and refined gamma correction for enhanced visuals. Additionally, the audio engine has been upgraded, restoring missing environmental sounds and introducing new configuration options for an immersive experience.
