Stellar Blade Update Adds Disappointing DLC

Stellar Blade's Patch 1.009: A Double-Edged Sword of Content and Bugs

Stellar Blade's highly anticipated update, Patch 1.009, delivered the promised Photo Mode and NieR: Automata DLC, but unfortunately, also introduced several game-breaking glitches. Players have reported being softlocked during a main quest in an earlier dungeon, rendering progression impossible. Further issues include game crashes when using the Photo Mode's selfie camera and visual glitches with new cosmetic items.

Shift Up, the developers, are actively working on a hotfix to address these problems. They advise players to avoid forcing quest progression and patiently await the patch, as attempting to circumvent the bugs might lead to permanent softlocks.

A Collaboration Born from Mutual Respect

The NieR: Automata collaboration is a significant part of Patch 1.009. As detailed on the PlayStation Blog, the collaboration between director Kim Hyung Tae and director Yoko Taro was driven by mutual respect and creative synergy. Players can find Emil, the iconic NieR character, within Stellar Blade's world to acquire 11 exclusive collaboration items.

Photo Mode and Enhanced Customization

The much-requested Photo Mode finally arrives, allowing players to capture stunning images of Eve and her companions. New photo challenges further enhance this feature. Four new outfits for Eve and a new accessory (unlocked after completing a specific ending) modifying Tachy Mode's appearance have also been added. Customization options are further expanded with a "No Ponytail" setting.

Beyond the new additions, the update includes lip-sync support for six more languages, improved projectile auto-aim and bullet magnet functions for the instant death skill, and various minor bug fixes, aiming for a smoother gaming experience overall. However, the critical bugs necessitate the urgent hotfix.
