Cancelled Coyote vs. Acme Might Make It to the Big Screen After All

Warner Bros.' seemingly shelved film, Coyote vs. Acme, may be heading for a theatrical release after all, according to Deadline. Ketchup Entertainment, a Los Angeles-based independent film company, is reportedly in advanced negotiations to acquire the completed film, previously believed to be scrapped.

While the deal isn't finalized, a 2026 theatrical release is anticipated should negotiations succeed.

Announced in 2022 and based on Ian Frazier's 1990 New Yorker article, Coyote vs. Acme is co-written by James Gunn and stars Will Forte and John Cena. Initially slated for a mid-2023 release on Max, the film was shelved despite completing filming, prompting a significant online campaign to secure its release.

PlayKetchup Entertainment's recent success includes rescuing *The Day the Earth Blew Up: A Looney Tunes Movie* from a similar fate at Warner Bros. Securing a US theatrical release, it became the first fully animated Looney Tunes movie to hit cinemas, receiving positive reviews, including IGN's description as a "laugh-out-loud riot."

Ketchup Entertainment's portfolio also includes Hellboy: The Crooked Man, the Robert Rodriguez thriller Hypnotic (starring Ben Affleck), and co-production on Michael Mann's 2023 Ferrari biopic.
