GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

Speculation Mounts: Will GTA 6 Arrive on PC?

Take-Two Interactive's CEO hints at a potential future PC release for Grand Theft Auto 6 (GTA 6), fueling anticipation among fans. While an official PC launch hasn't been confirmed, the company's history and recent statements suggest a strong possibility.

Take-Two's Strategic Approach to Platform Releases

GTA 6 PC Release Hinted To Come At A Later Date

In a February 10, 2025 interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick revealed that while Civilization 7 will launch simultaneously on consoles and PC, Rockstar Games often adopts a staggered release strategy. He cited past releases of GTA 5 and Red Dead Redemption 2 as examples, highlighting a pattern of initial console releases followed by later PC ports.

This historical precedent, while not a confirmation, strongly suggests that a PC version of GTA 6 is likely, though not at launch. While many hoped for a simultaneous PC release given the game's scale, a post-launch PC release aligns with Rockstar's established practice.

PC's Growing Significance in Gaming Revenue

Zelnick emphasized the increasing importance of the PC market, noting that PC versions of multiplatform games can contribute up to 40% of total sales. This underscores the financial incentive for Take-Two to eventually bring GTA 6 to PC. Despite concerns about declining console sales, Zelnick remains confident in GTA 6's overall success across all platforms, believing its release will stimulate console sales as well.

GTA 6 is slated for a Fall 2025 release, but a specific PC release date remains unannounced. Stay tuned to our Grand Theft Auto 6 page for the latest updates.

Further fueling speculation, Take-Two's Q3 Fiscal Conference Call on February 6, 2025, revealed interest in bringing their titles to the Nintendo Switch 2. Zelnick highlighted a shift in Nintendo's target audience, making the platform more appealing for their wider range of games. The inclusion of Civilization 7 on the Switch 2 further supports this strategic shift.
