NBA 2K All Star Launches Next Month: Top Basketball Sim Hits Mobile

Author : Audrey May 06,2025

With the ever-growing prowess of mobile technology, it's no shock to see sports simulators, a staple of AAA gaming, making their mark on mobile platforms. However, the recent collaboration between Tencent and the NBA (National Basketball Association) to bring the NBA 2K series to mobile in China is quite the headline. Scheduled for release on March 25th, NBA 2K All Star aims to deliver a live-service experience tailored for mobile gamers in the East.

The partnership between Tencent and the NBA isn't entirely unexpected, considering their respective dominances in gaming and sports. Yet, it's fascinating to note that basketball enjoys a massive following in China, where Tencent is based. This makes the arrival of 2K All Stars on mobile less of a surprise. What piques curiosity, however, is the content of this mobile adaptation, which breaks from the traditional year-based branding (like 2K24, 2K25). Could this be a hint at a long-term live service model? Only time will tell as we await the March 25th release in China.

Shoot for the hoopUntil we have concrete details about 2K All Stars, we're left to speculate. Yet, this speculation is telling, as it underscores the NBA's increasing focus on mobile gaming. Another example is the release of Dunk City Dynasty, also a collaboration with the NBA, further solidifying the organization's presence on mobile devices. Despite some setbacks, like the gradual decline of NBA All World post its much-anticipated launch, the trend is clear: mobile is becoming a significant platform for the NBA to engage and expand its fanbase.
