Netflix Games Scraps Six Upcoming Indie Games From Their Roster Including Don’t Starve Together

Netflix recently made significant changes to its gaming lineup, removing six previously announced mobile titles: Don't Starve Together, Tales of the Shire, Compass Point: West, Lab Rat, Rotwood, and Thirsty Suitors. This isn't the first time Netflix has canceled games after initial announcements; Crashlands 2 suffered a similar fate.

This shift reflects a broader change in Netflix's gaming strategy. The company appears to be prioritizing narrative-driven games and titles based on its popular shows and movies, moving away from a focus on independent games. This is evident in the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories, featuring adaptations of shows like Ginny & Georgia and Sweet Magnolias.

While disappointing for fans anticipating these titles on Netflix Games, most of the canceled games are still slated for release on other platforms. Don't Starve Together, initially planned as a mobile exclusive via Netflix, will now launch via Playdigious. Rotwood remains in early access on Steam. Tales of the Shire has been delayed to early 2025. The removal of Compass Point: West, developed by Netflix-owned Next Games, is particularly noteworthy. Thirsty Suitors, an RPG, will still release on Steam and consoles.

The absence of the Netflix Games logo from the official website further confirms the cancellation of these titles. To see the remaining Netflix Games offerings, users can check the Google Play Store. For more Netflix news, you might be interested in the upcoming additions to Netflix Stories.
