The newly released Ratatan gameplay trailer offers a thrilling sneak peek into the game's mechanics, showcasing intense gameplay sequences, including a battle against a giant boss crab. This trailer was unveiled during IGN Fan Fest Day 2 2025 by Ratatan Works, the developers behind Ratatan.

The trailer highlights Ratatan’s innovative blend of rhythm roguelike action, seamlessly merging rhythm game dynamics with side-scrolling action. A standout feature is the online co-op mode, which supports up to four players, allowing for collaborative gameplay in battles that can involve up to 100 characters.

Ratatan is crafted by the creative minds behind Patapon, including its creator Hiroyuki Kotani and original musician Kemmei Adachi. Launched in 2023, the game's Kickstarter campaign successfully reached its console launch goal, ensuring its availability on various gaming platforms.

Closed Beta Begins on February 27, 2025

Ratatan Gameplay Trailer Reveals 4 Person Online Co-Op

According to updates on their Kickstarter page, Ratatan is gearing up for a closed beta test starting February 27, 2025. Producer Kazuto Sakajiri shared insights into the game’s recent milestones, including surpassing 100,000 wishlists on Steam and receiving positive feedback on the Ratatan Original Soundtrack Demo.

While the game won’t be featured at the upcoming Steam Next Fest, the team is focusing on refining the closed beta experience. The initial closed beta build will include up to Stage 1, with plans to add Stages 2 and 3 during the month-long test period. Details about code distribution, start dates, and times will be announced through Discord and X once finalized.

Ratatan is slated for release in 2025 across multiple platforms, including PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, and PC. While an exact release date has yet to be announced, anticipation for this spiritual successor to Patapon continues to build.
