Captivity – Version 0.1 Update Log
Last Updated: January 24, 2024
Welcome to the first public build of Captivity — a chilling multiplayer horror co-op experience that redefines survival in the shadows of madness.
🔧 What’s New in Version 0.1?
- ✅ Stable Multiplayer Foundation: Fully functional 4-player co-op mode (hosted and dedicated servers). Connect with friends—or strangers—and face the dark together.
- ✅ Core Gameplay Loop Refined: Survive, scavenge, and strategize. Find keys, hack terminals, and uncover logs to piece together the truth behind the facility’s collapse.
- ✅ Improved Enemy AI: Patients now react dynamically to noise, movement, and player behavior. They’ll stalk, ambush, and exploit fear—don’t make a sound.
- ✅ Atmospheric Sound Design Overhaul: New ambient tracks, tense audio cues, and spatialized footstep mechanics heighten immersion. (Use headphones for full effect.)
- ✅ Visual Polish & Optimization: Reduced load times, optimized draw distance, and improved lighting performance across all platforms (PC, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S).
- ✅ New Environment – Wing D (The Infirmary): Explore the derelict medical wing, littered with broken IVs, discarded patient files, and whispers in the walls.
🐾 New Features & Systems
- 🔐 Voice-Locked Lockers: Secure your loot using voice-activated biometrics — but be warned: your voice may be mimicked.
- 🧠 Mental State Meter: As fear mounts, your character’s perception distorts. Hallucinations, false alarms, and paranoia can cost you your sanity.
- 📷 Found Footage Mode: Record and share terrifying moments via in-game camcorder (with filters and audio degradation for maximum dread).
- 🧩 Randomized Objectives: No two runs are alike. Every escape path, enemy spawn pattern, and hidden archive changes with each session.
🐛 Bug Fixes & Quality of Life Improvements
- Fixed: "Invisible Door" glitch in the old maintenance tunnels.
- Fixed: Audio stutter during scripted jump scares.
- Fixed: Player slipping through geometry when crouching under low ceilings.
- Enhanced: HUD clarity in low-light conditions.
- Added: Quick-access menu for health items and flashlights.
🧨 What’s Next?
Version 0.2 – “The Asylum Awakens” (Q2 2024)
- Introducing The Warden: A rogue AI entity that controls the facility’s systems and hunts down escapees.
- New playable character: Dr. Lena Voss, a former scientist with fragmented memories.
- Expansive new area: The Observation Wing – Bunker 9, home to corrupted experiments and forbidden rituals.
- Horror Mode: Toggle on for enhanced enemy aggression, reduced save frequency, and permadeath.
