Assassin's Creed Shadows' First DLC, "Claws of Awaji," Leaks on Steam

A Steam leak has reportedly revealed details about the first downloadable content (DLC) for Assassin's Creed Shadows, titled "Claws of Awaji." This expansion, set in feudal Japan, promises a significant addition to the already anticipated title.

Assassin's Creed Shadows, the series' first foray into feudal Japan, introduces dual protagonists: Yasuke, a Samurai, and Naoe, a Shinobi. The game's development has been marked by challenges, including initial criticism of character designs and multiple release date delays – the most recent pushing the launch from February 14, 2025, to March 20, 2025.

The leaked information, originating from a now-deleted Steam update according to Insider Gaming, details "Claws of Awaji" as offering players a new region to explore, alongside a new weapon type, skills, gear, and abilities. The expansion is expected to add over 10 hours of gameplay. Pre-ordering the game will reportedly grant access to both the "Claws of Awaji" DLC and a bonus mission.

The Leak and Recent Delays

The Steam leak surfaced following Ubisoft's announcement of yet another delay for Assassin's Creed Shadows. This further delay, to March 20th, 2025, adds to the already turbulent journey leading up to the game's release.

Ubisoft's current situation is further complicated by rumors of a potential Tencent buyout. This speculation follows a period of mixed success for the company, with some recent titles failing to meet sales expectations. As Ubisoft Quebec prepares for the launch of Assassin's Creed Shadows, the company faces a period of uncertainty.
