Camper Waits Outside San Francisco Nintendo Store for Switch 2 Before It Opens

Author : Samuel Apr 24,2025

The anticipation for the Nintendo Switch 2 is palpable, with fans eager to get their hands on the new console. In a remarkable display of dedication, one fan has already taken extreme measures to secure his spot. YouTuber Super Cafe has flown over 800 miles to San Francisco and is currently camping out in front of the soon-to-be-opened Nintendo Store, set to launch on May 15. His goal? To be the first in line on the west coast for the release of the Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025.

In a video released on April 8, Super Cafe detailed his journey and plans. Despite having moved into his new apartment just two months prior, he admitted that camping out might not be the best financial decision but expressed his enthusiasm regardless. "I've only lived in my apartment for two months. I like, just moved out," he said. "Terrible financial decision on my end. Whatever, who cares."

Super Cafe isn't alone in his endeavor; another YouTube content creator is similarly waiting in line at the New York store. However, Super Cafe plans to camp out mostly solo and has even invited others interested in joining him at the San Francisco opening to reach out. As for the logistics of his extended stay, such as accommodations, food, and showers, he promised to address these in a future Q&A.

The tradition of camping out for major Nintendo releases, particularly new consoles, is a well-established phenomenon. With dedicated fans like Super Cafe setting up camp at both coastal Nintendo stores, it remains to be seen if this will spark a wave of similar actions from other enthusiasts. Their commitment underscores the excitement surrounding the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2.

For those unable or unwilling to camp out, pre-order information for the Nintendo Switch 2 is available. However, ongoing tariffs are complicating the situation for potential buyers in the United States. Keep an eye on our guides for the latest updates on Nintendo Switch 2 pre-orders.
