Clair Obscur: Expedition 33 Developers Eyeing Switch 2 Port
Says It "Could Be Interesting"
Following the resounding success of Clair Obscur: Expedition 33, developer Sandfall Interactive is contemplating a port to the Nintendo Switch 2. In a recent interview with French YouTuber mistermv on May 2, Expedition 33 Director Guillaume Broche discussed the studio's future moves post-launch.
Broche highlighted the game's achievements, noting, "Well, at this point, considering the success of the game, it kind of changes everything." This success has opened up numerous possibilities for the team.
When broached about a potential Switch 2 release, Broche responded thoughtfully, "So clearly, it's too early to say, but we're kind of in a situation where... let's say there are a lot of opportunities showing up - way too many at once - and we're figuring out what we'll go for and what we won't. But yeah, it's definitely something that could be interesting."
With the buzz surrounding the upcoming Switch 2, it's fitting that this year's top-rated game might find its way onto the latest handheld console. Fans are eagerly awaiting confirmation on whether they'll be able to experience the Belle Époque-inspired turn-based RPG on Nintendo's new device.
No Official Merchandise...Yet!
Amidst the flurry of opportunities and requests, Sandfall Interactive has received numerous inquiries about official merchandise, particularly for a plush of the beloved character, Esquie. The studio has yet to release any official merchandise and has warned fans about counterfeit items circulating online. In a Twitter (X) post dated May 14, they clarified, "To be clear: any third-party websites selling Esquie plushies are NOT officially licensed."
They further cautioned against purchasing these items, noting that many use AI-generated artwork, which they strongly advise against due to potential scams. However, Sandfall Interactive is actively working on creating official Esquie plushies.
The studio's post reassured fans, "But here’s the wheee to balance out the whooo: we are looking into making official Esquie plushies, and we want to bring them to you as soon as we can. In the meantime, please be patient — and don’t get scammed!"
