Palworld's Dark Fragments: A Guide to Finding and Using This Elusive Resource

Palworld's vast Feybreak DLC expansion introduces a wealth of crafting materials, including the enigmatic Dark Fragments. This guide will help you locate and utilize this crucial resource for crafting high-tier equipment.

Obtaining Dark Fragments

To acquire Dark Fragments, you must hunt Dark-elemental Pals exclusively found on Feybreak Island. Unlike other regions, Dark Fragments are unique to this location. Focus your search inland, as coastal areas primarily feature ground and water-type Pals. Note that some Pals, like Starryon, are nocturnal, appearing only at night unless they are boss variants.

Capturing or defeating these Pals yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. While not guaranteed with every capture or kill, consistent hunting of Dark-elemental Pals will provide a steady supply.

Here's a list of Dark-elemental Pals and their Dark Fragment drop rates:

Pal Name Drop Rate
Starryon 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Omascul 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Splatterina 2-3 x Dark Fragments
Dazzi Noct 1 x Dark Fragment
Kitsun Noct 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Starryon (Midnight Blue Mane) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Rampaging Starryon 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Omascul (Hundred-Faced Apostle) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Splatterina (Crismon Butcher) 2-3 x Dark Fragments
Dazzi Noct (Born of the Thunderclouds) 1 x Dark Fragment
Kitsun Noct (Guardian of the Dark Flame) 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Rampaging Omascul 1-2 x Dark Fragments
Rampaging Splatterina 2-3 x Dark Fragments

While less reliable, you may occasionally find single Dark Fragments scattered throughout Feybreak. Thorough exploration is key.

Utilizing Dark Fragments

Dark Fragments, while valuable, are not used in a vast array of recipes. They are primarily components in specialized saddles, accessories, and enhanced mobility boots. Remember to unlock the necessary schematics in your Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points before crafting. You'll also need the appropriate crafting machines and additional materials.

Here's a list of craftable items requiring Dark Fragments:

Crafted Item Unlock Method
Homing Module Level 57 in Technology Menu (5 Technology Points)
Triple Jump Boots Level 58 in Ancient Technology Menu (3 Ancient Technology Points; Defeat Feybreak Tower boss)
Double Air Dash Boots Level 54 in Ancient Technology Menu (3 Ancient Technology Points)
Smokie's Harness Level 56 in Technology Menu (3 Technology Points)
Dazzi Noct's Necklace Level 52 in Technology Menu (3 Technology Points)
Starryon Saddle Level 57 in Technology Menu (4 Technology Points)
Nyafia's Shotgun Level 53 in Technology Menu (3 Technology Points)
Xenolord Saddle Level 60 in Technology Menu (5 Technology Points)

This guide provides a comprehensive overview of acquiring and utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld. Happy hunting!
