For years, fans of the gritty 2007 video game *Kane & Lynch* developed by IO Interactive, the studio behind the Hitman series, have eagerly awaited a big-screen adaptation. The project, which has seen numerous Hollywood stars come and go, seems to have hit another dead end.
Recently, Timo Tjahjanto, the director of *Nobody 2*, shared on social media that he had crafted a treatment for the *Kane & Lynch* film that envisioned David Harbour, famous for his roles as Jim Hopper in *Stranger Things* and Red Guardian in *Thunderbolts/New Avengers*, in the lead. "Never seen a script, but a couple years ago when that property was still kinda hot. I wrote a short treatment with James Badge Dale and David Harbour in mind," Tjahjanto revealed. Unfortunately, his efforts did not progress further.
Despite the enthusiasm, the *Kane & Lynch* movie appears to be stalled. Tjahjanto's treatment joins a list of unfulfilled attempts to bring the game to the cinema. Previously, high-profile actors Bruce Willis and Jamie Foxx were attached to the project, but both eventually withdrew as the script underwent numerous revisions. Another iteration reportedly considered Gerard Butler and Vin Diesel for the starring roles, yet this too never materialized.
Following the lukewarm reception of the 2010 sequel, *Kane & Lynch: Dog Days*, IO Interactive shifted their focus entirely to the Hitman franchise, leaving the *Kane & Lynch* film project in limbo.
