The Viper, a high-ranking dragonkin crafted by Hismar, is tasked with leading defeated dragons and spreading chaos. This powerful enemy poses a significant challenge even without fully utilizing Hismar's power. To prepare, ensure your chosen weapon's skills are optimally set up and consider summoning the Spirit of Advocacy just outside the boss gates for additional support.

When facing the Viper, be alert for the following attacks:

  • A three-hit combo initiated with two stabs followed by a spear swing.
  • A two-hit spear-swinging combo from left to right.
  • A large sweep followed by a leap away, then throwing its spear up to two times; be cautious of the returning weapon.
  • A four-hit combo featuring a spinning spear and subsequent swipes in both directions.

Timing your blocks and executing Perfect Guards will rapidly deplete the Viper’s stamina. Keep the pressure on with continuous attacks and utilize Brutal Attacks when opportunities arise. The Spirit of Advocacy can act as a valuable decoy. At around half health, the Viper will roar and summon an energy tornado. Move away quickly to avoid being pulled in.

Following the energy blast, be vigilant for the Viper's leaping slam and its grab attack, indicated by the flashing spear tip. Dodge to the right to evade the grab. The Viper also introduces a new ranged attack, spinning its spear vertically, followed by jumping attacks.

All its previous attacks now inflict more damage and include additional hits, so maintain a defensive stance by blocking. Executing a Perfect Guard on the final hit of its five-hit combo can stagger the boss, providing a window for significant damage. Once you deplete its health, the real battle begins.

Phase 2

In Phase 2, the Viper harnesses Hismar’s power, becoming even more formidable with a fully restored health bar. It now employs its fortified left arm for downward smashes and swipes, and a giant sword for slashes. Upon hearing its roar, brace for two wide-ranging arm attacks followed by a Burst Attack. Use Counterattack to stun the Viper and seize your chance.

At the halfway health mark, the Viper summons a storm that darkens the arena. During lightning flashes, it will leap towards you to attack multiple times, ending with a charge and an uppercut. Parry or dodge these moves and use its aggressive behavior to your advantage. Be prepared for the addition of a leaping slam to its attacks.

Maintain vigilance over your stamina to avoid exhaustion during the Viper's sustained combos. Successfully defeating the Viper rewards you with over 10,000 Lacrima, Hismar’s Scale, several Fallen Lord items, and the Hunter’s Ring.
