Special Room and More Exclusively for Switch 2
During the latest Nintendo Direct for Switch 2 on April 2, it was announced that Deltarune will be available on the new console. This version will include Chapters 3 and 4, along with exclusive features tailored for the next-gen console.
According to a Fangamer newsletter by Deltarune developer Toby Fox, the Switch 2 version will feature a unique "SPECIAL ROOM" that utilizes the mouse functionality of the new Joy-Cons. Fox enthusiastically shared, "So, we made a very small SPECIAL ROOM which takes advantage of using MOUSE CONTROLS ON TWO CONTROLLERS AT ONCE, only possible on the Nintendo Switch 2!!"
For those playing on non-Switch 2 devices, the SPECIAL ROOM will still be accessible but with an alternative control scheme. Additionally, players can transfer their save files from the Nintendo Switch demo of Deltarune 1 and 2 to the new version, ensuring a seamless transition.
Deltarune Future Chapters Will Be Free
Toby Fox also revealed the pricing for Deltarune in the newsletter, setting the cost at $24.99. This price includes Chapters 1 and 2, as well as the new releases of Chapters 3 and 4. While Chapter 1 was released in 2018 and Chapter 2 in 2021, both were free. Previously, it was announced that future Chapters 3-5 would require payment.
However, Fox has exciting news for fans: upcoming Chapters will be provided as free updates. This means that purchasing the game once will grant access to all future Chapters at no additional cost. Fox expressed his hope, saying, "But, it's my hope that as we complete more Chapters, you'll feel like this game was a super super super super good deal."
The game’s soundtrack will be available on Steam for $14.99, featuring over 150 songs from Chapters 3 and 4. Songs from future Chapters will also be added to the soundtrack for free, ensuring that Deltarune offers exceptional value to its fans.
