Author : Simon Apr 13,2025

According to Tony Gilroy, the mastermind behind the critically acclaimed "Andor," Disney is secretly developing a Star Wars horror project. During a recent interview with Business Insider, Gilroy hinted at Lucasfilm's ongoing efforts to explore darker themes within the beloved franchise. When questioned about tackling a more sinister Star Wars project, Gilroy confirmed, "They're doing that. I think they're doing that. I think that's in the works, yeah."

This revelation suggests that fans might soon witness the Star Wars universe delve into the Dark Side in an unprecedented way. Although details about the project remain under wraps, it could take the form of a TV series, movie, or something entirely new. While it may be years before we learn more, Gilroy's comments indicate that Disney is considering innovative storytelling within the Star Wars saga.

"The right creator, and the right moment, and the right vibe … you can do anything," Gilroy remarked, reflecting on his experience with "Andor." He expressed hope that the success of "Andor" could inspire other creators to explore fresh and exciting ideas within the franchise.

The idea of a Star Wars horror movie has long been a dream for many fans, including Mark Hamill. While the franchise has primarily focused on the Skywalker saga and its myriad side characters, there remains ample opportunity to uncover the darker aspects of its universe. Although some spinoffs have ventured into scarier territory, major productions typically cater to a broad audience.
