If you're diving into Dynasty Warriors: Origins, you'll find yourself primarily playing as the Wanderer on a noble quest to restore peace to the land. Along the way, you'll encounter a diverse cast of companions who will join you in battles, offering strategic depth and tactical advantages. No matter which path you choose in the main storyline, these allies will accompany you through the chaos of war.
Your companions are formidable fighters, and taking direct control of them can often be far more effective than relying solely on the Wanderer, especially when fully upgraded. Here's how to seamlessly switch between characters and unleash their true potential.
How To Switch Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to a companion is only possible during battles where they are present alongside you. Before a battle begins, during the war council phase, the final option in the menu will allow you to select your companion. However, if you wish to proceed solo, you cannot switch to any companions at this stage. Once the battle starts, you’ll notice your companion’s health bar displayed in the bottom-right corner of the screen, directly above your own.
Below their health bar lies a blue bar akin to your Musou gauge. This bar fills up as you engage in various combat actions:
- Successfully parrying enemy attacks
- Executing perfect dodges
- Engaging and defeating officers
- Utilizing Weapon Arts
Almost every action in combat contributes to filling this bar, albeit at varying rates.
When the blue bar fills completely, the "Change Character" button will appear beside it. Hold the designated button for approximately one second to switch to your companion. On Xbox, this is the View Button; on PC, it's the C key; and on PlayStation, it's the Touchpad.
Playing As Other Characters In Dynasty Warriors: Origins
Switching to another character is best done mid-battle, as companions are exceptionally strong and remain under your control for roughly a minute. The blue bar that fills up to enable the switch gradually depletes, indicating the remaining time you have in control of your new character. Upon switching, your companion enters the fray with a powerful strike, so aim carefully to maximize impact.
Your newly controlled character will have their full Bravery gauge restored and a robust set of combat arts at their disposal, making them highly effective in battle. Additionally, their Musou gauge and health bar will also be replenished, allowing you to unleash devastating special attacks and turn the tide of battle.
With these tips in mind, mastering character switches will elevate your gameplay experience, providing you with the versatility needed to conquer even the toughest foes.
