The cards we're revealing today are part of the "Through the Ages" bonus sheet, nestled within the expansive main set. These are reprints of existing cards, reimagined with concept art and characters from various Final Fantasy games. While they don't introduce new or mechanically unique cards like those featured in recent reveals or the Commander decks, the art spans from the very first game in the series, adding a nostalgic touch.

Unlike the cards in the main set, Through the Ages cards are not legal in Magic's Standard format (though they retain legality if the original card was already legal). These cards are essentially alternate art versions, available in both the premium Collector Boosters and one in every three regular Play Boosters used for Limited events like Draft and Sealed.
If you're planning to dive into this set, either at your local game store or digitally on platforms like Magic: The Gathering Arena, expect to encounter these cards frequently. Five out of the six cards are Rares, making them less common, but Thrum of the Vestige stands out as an Uncommon. This card is a reskin of Lightning Bolt, one of Magic's most iconic spells, and its inclusion is likely to have a significant impact on the set.
The Warrior of Light version of Jodah, the Unifier, is sure to be a fan favorite - Jodah is a versatile and widely-used Commander, and the art here is Amano's iconic work from the original Final Fantasy's Japanese boxart. Similarly, Amano's legendary artwork for Final Fantasy 4's Cecil Harvey has been repurposed for Tymna the Weaver, one of Magic's most powerful partner commanders, which has seen only one previous reprint. These cards will launch physically as part of the larger Final Fantasy set on June 13, with digital versions becoming available on MTG Arena and MTGO on June 10. And for Final Fantasy enthusiasts not yet familiar with Magic, there's additional excitement: FF7 Remake series director Tetsuya Nomura hinted that the design of Sephiroth on one card holds a mysterious significance.
