Here's the official description:
Civilization 7 - VR transforms the series' strategic gameplay into an immersive experience. The Command Table brings the world map to life, allowing players to zoom in on intricate unit details or survey the battlefield from above—like a dynamic tabletop wargame. Engage directly with legendary leaders as you negotiate alliances or wage war across eras.
The game supports both full VR immersion and mixed reality modes, with seamless switching between them. VR mode places players in a grand museum overlooking landscapes themed to their chosen civilization, while mixed reality adapts the Command Table to your physical space. The Archives room showcases dioramas of your in-game milestones in both modes. Alongside single-player campaigns, online multiplayer supports up to four competitors battling for global domination on Meta Quest 3/3S.
While Firaxis' 4X sequel is currently playable via early access on PC and consoles, Steam reviews highlight persistent concerns about interface design, limited map diversity, and missing expected features.
The studio has addressed these critiques, committing to UI enhancements, cooperative multiplayer teams, expanded map selections, and other improvements.
In a pre-earnings interview with IGN, Take-Two CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged mixed receptions from critics and players but expressed confidence that longtime fans will appreciate Civilization 7's depth over time, calling initial engagement "promising."
