At the time of this report, some U.S. Apple users may face challenges finding Fortnite via the App Store search, though Epic assures this will be resolved “soon.” For now, you can visit its revitalized store page directly. In the E.U., Fortnite is also available for download through the Epic Games Store and AltStore.
Fortnite’s return to iOS devices, including iPhones and iPads, marks the resolution of a long-standing feud between Epic and Apple. The conflict began in August 2020 when Apple and Google pulled Fortnite from their digital storefronts after Epic introduced an update that lowered V-Bucks prices and implemented a direct payment system. Epic cited “exorbitant” store fees charged by Apple and Google as the reason for its bold move.
A protracted legal battle ensued, keeping Fortnite off official storefronts for millions of players who once enjoyed it on Apple and Google Play. In April, Epic CEO Tim Sweeney announced Fortnite’s planned return to the iOS App Store in early May, following a ruling from a U.S. Federal District Court in California. Despite delays due to Apple’s continued restrictions, Fortnite is now officially back on iOS after five years.
Players downloading Fortnite on Apple devices can now purchase V-Bucks through the Epic Games Store or in-app purchases. For instance, those opting for the 2,800 V-Bucks pack priced at $22.99 can pay Epic directly, receiving $4.60 (20%) back to use on other Epic offerings.
