Gotham Knights: A Potential Nintendo Switch 2 Release?

Recent speculation suggests that Gotham Knights could be among the third-party titles launching on the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This intriguing possibility stems from a game developer's resume.

Evidence from a Developer's Resume

On January 5th, 2025, YouTuber Doctre81 highlighted a game developer's resume listing work on Gotham Knights for two yet-to-be-released platforms. The developer, employed by QLOC from 2018 to 2023, also listed credits on titles like Mortal Kombat 11 and Tales of Vesperia. One platform may be the original Nintendo Switch, given a previous ESRB rating (since removed). However, performance issues on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S might have influenced a potential port for the original Switch. The listing of a second unreleased platform strongly suggests a Switch 2 release.

It's crucial to remember that this remains unconfirmed by Warner Bros. Games or Nintendo. Consider this information preliminary. However, the Nintendo Switch 2 is currently the only highly anticipated, unreleased console.

Previous Nintendo Switch Port Rumors and ESRB Rating

Initially released in October 2022 for PS5, Windows, and Xbox Series X, Gotham Knights received an ESRB rating for the original Nintendo Switch, fueling speculation of a release. This rating has since been removed from the ESRB website. While a Switch port never materialized, the past rating, coupled with the recent YouTube report, adds weight to the Switch 2 possibility.

Nintendo Switch 2: Backwards Compatibility and Official Announcements

Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa announced on May 7th, 2024, that further details on the Switch's successor would be revealed within their fiscal year (ending March 2025). A subsequent announcement confirmed the Switch 2's backwards compatibility with original Switch software and Nintendo Switch Online services. The use of physical cartridges remains unconfirmed.
