The Signal Redirector isn't something you'll stumble upon easily in *Atomfall*. Unlike items like the Metal Detector, you won't find it through trading or scavenging from corpses. Instead, it's tied to a specific location and character: Dr. Diane Garrow, a former B.A.R.D scientist.

Your journey begins in Wyndham Village, where you'll pick up a lead on Dr. Garrow's whereabouts. From there, you must venture to rescue her from the depths of the Protocol prison camp in Skethermoor. Reaching this location is no small feat, as the area is heavily guarded by Protocol soldiers. To make your infiltration smoother, consider meeting Captain Grant Sims in Wyndham Village first. By assisting him with tasks like retrieving stolen items, you can gain favor with Protocol, at least temporarily.

Once prepared, head to the Protocol prison camp on the southern border of Skethermoor. The entrance to the underground prison is at the end of the southernmost road, behind a large green door. The prison is a multi-level facility, and you'll need to navigate through it, avoiding or confronting guards and robots. Remember, you can disable B.A.R.D robots to obtain their **Atomic Batteries**, essential for The Interchange.

Reach the bottom level, past the dig site area, where you'll find Dr. Garrow locked in a standalone cell in the main room. To free her, you'll need the Signal Redirector, which is located in a nearby Storage room on a shelf. Retrieving it will also earn you the **‘Reverse the Polarity’ trophy/achievement**.

How to Use the Signal Redirector in Atomfall

The Signal Redirector, developed by Dr. Garrow, serves as a hacking tool. It allows you to reroute power within yellow junction boxes to different sources, which can be crucial for disabling security systems and unlocking storage rooms. When in your inventory, the Signal Redirector will alert you with an icon at the bottom of your screen when you're near a hackable junction box. Follow the direction indicated by the device's needle, and the junction box will be highlighted when you're close enough.

To hack a junction box, select the 'Hack' button to reroute its power. If you need to reverse the hack, simply select 'Hack' again on the same junction box.
