Lies of P DLC Teased, Sequel to Come as Well

Lies of P’s Ji-Won Choi recently shared a heartfelt message that’s part love letter to the community and part teaser for what’s to come to the steampunk Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike game.

Lies of P DLC Concept Art and Soundtrack Teased in Director’s LetterP’s Puppets Get More Strings to Pull

One year ago, Lies of P burst onto the scene, a Pinocchio-inspired Soulslike that had players roaming the blood-soaked streets of Krat. Now, to celebrate the game's anniversary, developer NEOWIZ has gifted us with an emotional letter from director Ji-Won Choi and a tease of the upcoming DLC.

In his latest address, Choi thanked the fans who have embraced Lies of P over the past year. Describing the team as "enduring the heat of Korea’s hottest summer" while tirelessly working on the DLC, Choi emphasized how the love from fans keep their gears turning. He promised that the DLC will build on what made the base game such a hit—while, of course, aiming to fix a few of the issues that cropped up along the way.

"For the DLC of the Lies of P and the sequel, we aim to do better on what we did well and improve in areas we have room to grow," Choi wrote. "It might sound simple, but I find that sticking to the basics is anything but easy." Aside from the fans, he also expressed his gratitude for his colleagues, "Team NOUGH and ROUND8 Studio."

The most exciting tidbit, however, was at the end of the letter. Choi wrote: "By the way, here is a new song and artwork from the DLC. Can you imagine what new story will unfold?"

And what lies in store for fans indeed, as Choi shared concept art showing P standing in a snowy outpost, staring up at a lighthouse. What’s inside that lighthouse? No one knows yet, but it’s safe to say it won’t be warm cocoa and hugs. Similar to the base game, it’s bound to be filled with danger.

Choi’s teasing didn’t stop at artwork. He also shared a head-bopping tune from the DLC’s soundtrack. However, while he labeled the song as "new," " Lisrim" was actually composed by "onoken" in 2022. A slower tempo reveals its similarity to the track Choi attached.

There’s no copyright concern, though, as NEOWIZ owns both songs. The music video even echoes Lies of P: a character with a clockwork weapon runs across Victorian rooftops to rescue an imprisoned girl.

When Will Lies of P’s DLC Release?

As for when fans will be able to dive into the new content, the studio has yet to announce an exact release date. However, according to NEOWIZ’s Q1 2024 Earnings Results, the DLC is anticipated to arrive sometime in the second half of 2024, alongside four other games:

⚫︎ The Legend of Heroes: Gagharv Trilogy
⚫︎ Cats & Soup: Malang Town
⚫︎ Cats & Soup: Magic Recipe
 ⚫︎ Project IG

Fortunately, NEOWIZ has been keeping fans well-fed. Last November, Choi dropped an Eight-minute video on YouTube, teasing the upcoming DLC’s concept art, showcasing early concept art for the upcoming DLC. Two distinct environments were revealed: a towering industrial facility and a perilous shipwreck.

As fans await more concrete news, Choi assured their imminent return, hoping to "turn your anticipation into delight." In the meantime, those who have finished the main game and are already craving for more would simply have to practice patience. Rest assured, though, that this DLC is just the beginning—a full-fledged sequel is also on the horizon.
