Longvinter, the PC's Answer to Animal Crossing, Leaves Early Access on Steam

After three years of dedicated development, incorporating valuable player feedback, and meticulously addressing bugs, Longvinter has triumphantly exited early access on Steam with the launch of its highly anticipated version 1.0. The developers proudly announced this monumental milestone, bringing a plethora of updates designed to revitalize the experience for both newcomers and dedicated long-time fans alike.

The most significant addition in this update is the introduction of oil rigs scattered across the archipelago. Players can now engage in the exciting new mechanic of extracting oil, refining it into fuel, and participating in intense battles against mercenaries from the notorious Long Range Industries (LRI) who control these vital supply lines. In addition to these thrilling new gameplay elements, Longvinter has added new events to keep players on their toes, such as helicopter crashes that yield valuable tactical gear and an underground arena where players can fight for lucrative rewards every hour.

The game world has been enriched with an array of new wildlife, including lynxes, wolves, wolverines, foxes, moose, and goats, all of which players can now tame and ride as mounts. The update also introduces a variety of new items to enhance gameplay, such as buff-providing hats, combat vests, an assortment of weapons, explosives, new kitchen recipes, and interactive objects for building and decorating. These new additions include oil refineries, refrigerators, microwaves, power poles, and defensive turrets. Additionally, significant changes have been made to weapon balance to ensure a more dynamic and fair combat experience.

Looking ahead, the eagerly awaited 1.1 update promises to introduce farming mechanics, a revamped tutorial to help beginners navigate the game more easily, the option for apartment rentals, and the creation of shared communities to foster greater player interaction. Furthermore, the developers have confirmed that Longvinter will expand its reach beyond PC players with a planned launch on PlayStation in 2026, opening up new horizons for the game's community.
