Two Mega Steel-Type

Pokemon GO fans think they will finally get the chance to get Mega Metagross or Lucario in the game in July as part of the Ultra Unlock Part 2: Strength of Steel event, something they have been waiting for a long time now. Niantic recently announced its content schedule for next month, and it seems like it is jam-packed for Pokemon GO fans.

Pokemon GO is gearing up for an eventful month ahead, with the release of the final iterations of the GO Fest 2024 event coming up. There is also an exciting Pokemon GO Community Day featuring Tynamo slated to take place in July. Amid that, fans think Niantic might be on its way to adding one of the most requested Mega evolutions to Pokemon GO.

A new post on the Silph Road subreddit by g47onik gives an overview of what fans can expect in Pokemon GO for the month of July. While the Pokemon GO Fest Global event remains by far one of the most lucrative aspects of the event schedule, fans were quick to note that there is an Ultra Unlock event that will be held between July 25th and July 30th, called Strength of Steel. Many believe that this could finally lead to the debut of Mega Lucario or Metagross, which the community has been requesting for months now.

Mega Metagross Or Lucario? Pokemon GO Fans Debate Ultra Unlock Debut

Apart from that the fact that this is probably one of the best opportunities for Niantic to debut the Pokemon, fans have some solid claims to back their speculations. Mega Metagross looks like it is a fusion of Metagross and Metang, and the fact that the first Ultra Unlock event is known as Better Together could possibly hint towards that. Another theory is that Lucario evolves with high friendship in the other Pokemon games like ScarletandViolet, so it could be possible that the name is alluding to that.

While fans are equally excited for Mega Metagross some think it might as well be Mega Lucario instead. This is because the name Strength of Steel fits more aptly for Lucario, as it is a Fighting/Steel-type, so "strength" in the title could possibly hint towards Lucario's secondary type. A few players even think that Niantic might be extra generous and debut both of them in July. With Ultra Beast also returning to Pokemon GO in July, one thing is for sure, the next few weeks are going to be quite eventful for Pokemon GO fans.
