Application Systems Heidelberg has launched Mutropolis on mobile devices today. This quirky sci-fi detective adventure was developed by Pirita Studio. The publisher is known for previous hits such as Unforeseen Incidents, LUNA The Shadow Dust, and The Longing.
The point-and-click title was already accessible on PC through Steam. Meanwhile, Application Systems is getting ready to release a second game, Growbot, on mobile—continuing the studio’s focus on narrative-driven mobile experiences.
What is Mutropolis about?
In the year 5000, Mutropolis follows archaeologist Henry Dijon and his small team of eccentric researchers. They've left Mars to excavate Earth's ancient ruins. Civilisation as we know it has been lost to time—from the pyramids and the Mona Lisa to classic sitcoms.
None of it means anything to future society, except for this group of nerdy explorers who remain fascinated by Earth's pop culture. What starts as an ordinary excavation soon turns into a much weirder journey.
The plot thickens when Henry’s mentor, Professor Totel, goes missing. Dark truths emerge as the team discovers that ancient Egyptian gods are real—and they still have unfinished business with humanity.
You'll assist Henry in exploring the ruins as he searches for the fabled lost city of Mutropolis. It’s filled with futuristic gadgets, ancient relics, and mysterious artefacts that puzzle the modern mind. Check out the trailer below.
The game balances lighthearted humor with thought-provoking storytelling
Questions like “What was a Sony Walkman?” become running gags wrapped in genuine mystery. The writing blends comedy and absurdity, while puzzles are cleverly designed—rarely relying on random item combinations.
Mutropolis spans three acts and includes more than 50 hand-drawn scenes. English voice acting is fully integrated, with subtitle options in multiple languages.
Visually, the game uses a vivid color palette that brings Earth’s ruins to life. Most puzzles reward attention to detail, and nearly every object or line of dialogue serves a meaningful purpose.
Now priced at $4.49 on the Google Play Store, Mutropolis is a polished point-and-click experience. If you enjoy sci-fi, archaeology, and a touch of humor, it's definitely worth your time.
