Nintendo Unveils Switch 1 Direct Before Switch 2 Event

Author : Benjamin May 06,2025

Nintendo has announced an exciting Nintendo Direct focused exclusively on the Nintendo Switch, scheduled for tomorrow, March 27, at 7 a.m. PT. This event will feature approximately 30 minutes of content showcasing upcoming games for the beloved console. Importantly, Nintendo has confirmed that there will be no updates regarding the Nintendo Switch 2 during this presentation, reserving those details for a separate event on April 2 at 6 a.m. PT.

With the Nintendo Switch having sold an astounding 150.86 million units, it remains a powerhouse in the gaming industry. Even as anticipation builds for the Switch 2, Nintendo continues to support its current platform with a robust lineup of games. Fans can look forward to titles like Metroid Prime 4: Beyond and Professor Layton and the New World of Steam, both slated for release in 2025. Additionally, Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to launch on the Switch later this year. The long-awaited Hollow Knight: Silksong, initially announced for Windows, Mac, Linux, and Nintendo Switch, is also on the horizon. Given the Switch 2's backward compatibility, these games are expected to be playable on both the original Switch and its successor.

This week's Nintendo Direct might serve as a grand finale for the Nintendo Switch, eight years after its debut, offering a glimpse into Nintendo's final lineup of exclusives. However, Nintendo might still have some surprises in store for fans. Tune in to the livestream at the provided link to catch all the exciting announcements and updates.
