Owlcat Games Expands into Publishing, Focusing on Narrative-Driven Titles

Owlcat Games, renowned for its acclaimed cRPGs like Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous and Warhammer 40,000: Rogue Trader, has announced a significant expansion into game publishing. This strategic move, following their acquisition of META Publishing in 2021, aims to support and amplify the development of narrative-focused games.

The studio's publishing initiative is driven by a desire to foster innovative storytelling within the gaming industry. Owlcat intends to provide developers with the resources and expertise needed to bring their compelling narrative visions to life, extending their influence beyond their own development efforts. They seek partnerships with studios sharing their passion for creating immersive and engaging story-rich experiences.

Owlcat's Initial Publishing Lineup

Owlcat has already partnered with two promising development studios:

  • Emotion Spark Studio (Serbia): Developing Rue Valley, a narrative RPG centered around a protagonist trapped in a time loop within a mysterious town. The game will explore themes of mental health and personal growth as the player unravels the town's secrets. Owlcat's support will focus on enhancing the game's narrative and player engagement.

  • Another Angle Games (Poland): Creating Shadow of the Road, an isometric RPG set in an alternate feudal Japan. This title blends samurai culture, honor, and allegiance with tactical turn-based combat, incorporating magical yokai and steampunk elements. Owlcat will provide support for the game's development and launch.

Both Rue Valley and Shadow of the Road are in early development, with more details expected soon. Owlcat plans to regularly update fans on the progress of these titles, offering glimpses into the unique worlds and narratives they are creating.

Owlcat's venture into publishing represents a significant step forward, showcasing their commitment to supporting emerging talent and enriching the landscape of narrative-driven games for players globally. This initiative promises a diverse range of compelling stories and innovative gameplay experiences in the years to come.
