Max has unveiled an exciting trailer for Peacemaker Season 2, intensifying its ties to the Superman narrative by introducing key DC characters right from the start. The trailer opens with Sean Gunn portraying Maxwell Lord, Nathan Fillion as Guy Gardner / Green Lantern, and Isabela Merced as Kendra Saunders / Hawkgirl. They are seen interviewing John Cena's character, Peacemaker, for a potential superhero team. The interview quickly sours, leading to Peacemaker's frustrated exit from the scene.

This trailer offers fans a first glimpse at these supporting characters, who are also slated to appear in James Gunn's upcoming Superman film.

Peacemaker Season 2 is set to premiere on August 21, following the release of Superman on July 11. This makes it the third installment in the newly rebooted DCU, which began with the Creature Commandos TV series last year.

James Gunn and co-CEO Peter Safran's revamped DCU moves away from the critically criticized DC Extended Universe, which included films like Justice League, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and Man of Steel. However, certain elements from the old universe will continue into the new. Peacemaker is a prime example of this transition, having debuted in the DCEU in its first season and now continuing into the DCU with its second.

PlayJames Gunn has emphasized that "many strands will remain consistent as far as Peacemaker's story goes," though it's still unclear which specific elements will carry over from the DCEU to the DCU. He has confirmed that the entire Team Peacemaker will return with the same cast, including John Cena reprising his role as Peacemaker, alongside Frank Grillo as Rick Flag Sr., Freddie Stroma as Adrian Chase, and Danielle Brooks as Leota Adebayo.

Furthermore, Gunn has stated that Peacemaker Season 2 will take place after the events of both Creature Commandos and Superman, with the latter's events directly impacting Peacemaker's storyline.
