A Half-Million Strong Player Base

A Weekend of Record-Breaking Launches

PoE2 and Marvel Rivals' Triumphant DebutThe weekend saw two phenomenal game launches, each attracting an impressive 500,000 players on their respective launch days. Marvel Rivals, a free-to-play team-based PVP arena shooter, debuted on December 6th, followed by Path of Exile 2's Early Access release on December 7th.

Path of Exile 2's Early Access launch on Steam alone peaked at an astounding 578,569 concurrent players. This is a significant achievement, especially considering its paid Early Access status. Twitch viewership for the game exceeded 1 million on launch day. The game's popularity was so immense that it temporarily overwhelmed SteamDB, the database tracking Steam statistics, leading to a humorous public acknowledgment from SteamDB itself.

Even prior to launch, Path of Exile 2 had surpassed 1 million pre-orders, a number that rapidly climbed in the hours leading up to the servers going live. This unprecedented influx of players purchasing Early Access forced the development team to implement a last-minute database upgrade to handle the massive traffic. Despite this expansion, some players still experienced disconnections and login issues, encountering lengthy queues to access the game. This high demand is a testament to the game's highly anticipated release.
