Pokémon Sleep Development Moves to Pokémon Works

From Select Button to Pokémon Works

Pokemon Sleep Development TransitionThe Pokémon Company's newly formed subsidiary, Pokémon Works, established in March 2024, will now oversee the development and updates for Pokémon Sleep. This marks a change from the previous collaborative effort between Select Button and The Pokémon Company.

An in-app announcement (translated) stated that development and operation of Pokémon Sleep will gradually transfer from Select Button Co., Ltd. to Pokémon Works. Currently, this announcement appears only in the Japanese version of the app. The global impact of this transition remains to be seen.

Pokemon Sleep Development TransitionPokémon Works, a relatively new entity, is a collaboration between The Pokémon Company and Iruka Co., Ltd. Their representative director, Takuya Iwasaki, described the company as focused on making Pokémon experiences more tangible and enjoyable.

Interestingly, Pokémon Works shares a Tokyo location with ILCA, the studio behind Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, and a contributor to Pokémon HOME. Mr. Iwasaki also noted Pokémon Works' involvement in Pokémon HOME's development.

While their Pokémon-related history is still developing, Pokémon Works aims to create more immersive Pokémon experiences. Their specific plans for Pokémon Sleep's future remain undisclosed.
