Silent Hill f becomes the first entry in the Silent Hill series to receive an 18+ rating certification in Japan.
As shown in the Japanese reveal trailer launched yesterday, the game carries an M rating in the U.S., PEGI 18 in Europe, and CERO:Z classification in Japan - indicating adult content only.
While ratings may adjust during development, Automaton notes that previous mainline Japanese-developed Silent Hill titles (including Silent Hill 2, 3 and 4) received CERO:C ratings (15+), with western-developed entries typically rated CERO:C or CERO:D (17+).
Notably, even Bloober Team's Silent Hill 2 Remake - despite its mature Western ratings - retained the series' traditional CERO:C classification in Japan.
Konami's latest Silent Hill Transmission showcase focused exclusively on Silent Hill f - marking the franchise's first new mainline installment in 13 years.
Originally announced in 2022, this psychological horror transports players to 1960s Japan, following teenager Shimizu Hinako through a disturbing coming-of-age story penned by When They Cry creator Ryukishi07.

The haunting trailer depicts Hinako's deteriorating mental state through disturbing imagery - bloodied, wounded, and clad in a tattered school uniform. While gameplay footage remains limited, we glimpse terrifying monster designs and a surreal Otherworld transformation where rust gives way to crimson blossoms.
No release window was provided for Silent Hill f, and Konami offered no updates regarding No Code's mysterious Silent Hill: Townfall project.
