Silksong Is Real And Will Release, Reassures PR Manager

Author : Christian May 12,2025

Hollow Knight: Silksong continues to be a highly anticipated game, and fans can breathe a sigh of relief as Team Cherry's Marketing and PR Manager, Matthew Griffin, confirms that the game is still very much in active development. This update comes after a wave of speculation triggered by a seemingly innocuous change in co-creator William Pellen's X (Twitter) profile picture to a cake, which led fans to believe it might be a clue related to Silksong. However, YouTuber fireb0rn clarified that the cake was merely a "nothingburger," and not connected to any Silksong announcements or ARGs.

Confirmed by Team Cherry's Griffin

In response to a fan's plea for reassurance, Griffin took to X to confirm that "Yes the game is real, progressing and will release." This statement marks the first official update from Team Cherry on Silksong's status in over a year and a half, providing a much-needed reassurance to the eager fanbase.

Silksong's Six-Year-Long Journey

Silksong was first announced in February 2019 with an initial release target set for the first half of 2023. However, in May 2023, Team Cherry announced a delay, citing the game's expansive scope and their desire to enhance its quality further. The game promises to transport players to a new kingdom, introduce nearly 150 new enemies, and offer a new difficulty level, Silk Soul mode. Despite the wait nearing two years since the last delay, this recent update from Griffin breaks the silence, albeit modestly.

The fan response to this news has been mixed. While some express gratitude and encouragement towards Team Cherry, urging them not to rush under external pressure, others are growing increasingly impatient after almost six years of anticipation. They feel the updates provided are minimal given the game's high expectations.

Hollow Knight: Silksong is slated for release on PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X|S, and Xbox One. The game will follow Hornet, the protector of Hallownest, on her epic journey through an unfamiliar world, culminating in a perilous pilgrimage to the kingdom's peak. Although no specific release window has been announced yet, fans are encouraged to stay tuned for further updates and announcements.
