Stardew Valley: A Complete Guide To Enchantments & Weapon Forging

Author : Sophia Jan 07,2025

This guide explores the Volcano Forge in Stardew Valley, detailing how to enhance tools and weapons using Cinder Shards and various gemstones. The 1.6 update added significant changes, including new enchantments and the ability to enchant the Pan.

Obtaining Cinder Shards:

Cinder Shard Node

Cinder Shards are crucial for all Volcano Forge functions. Gather them by:

  • Mining Cinder Shard nodes (pink-orange specks) in the Volcano Dungeon.
  • Obtaining them as drops from Magma Sprites, Magma Duggies, Magma Sparkers, and False Magma Caps. Drop rates vary.
  • Harvesting them from a fishing pond with at least 7 Stingrays (7-9% daily chance).

The Mini-Forge:

After achieving Combat Mastery, craft a Mini-Forge, replicating the Volcano Forge's functionality. The recipe requires: 5 Dragon Teeth, 10 Iron Bars, 10 Gold Bars, and 5 Iridium Bars.

Weapon Forging:

Weapon Forging

Gemstones enhance weapons (up to three times). Each forge level requires increasing Cinder Shards (10, 15, 20) and a gemstone:

  • Amethyst: +1 knockback per level.
  • Aquamarine: +4.6% critical hit chance per level.
  • Emerald: +2/+3/+2 speed per level (cumulative).
  • Jade: +10% critical hit damage per level.
  • Ruby: +10% damage per level.
  • Topaz: +1 defense per level.
  • Diamond: Three random upgrades (10 Cinder Shards).

Unforging Weapons: Use the red X in the forge to remove all forging, recovering some shards but not the gemstone.

Infinity Weapons:

Galaxy Sword

Upgrade Galaxy Sword, Dagger, or Hammer into Infinity Weapons using three Galaxy Souls (20 Cinder Shards each). Galaxy Souls are obtained through various challenging methods (detailed in a separate guide).

Enchantments:

Enchanting

Use a Prismatic Shard and 20 Cinder Shards for random enchantments on tools or melee weapons. Enchantments cannot be chosen.

Weapon Enchantments:

  • Artful: Halves special move cooldown.
  • Bug Killer: Doubles damage against bugs; kills Armored Bugs.
  • Crusader: Doubles damage against undead; permanently kills mummies.
  • Vampiric: Chance to regain health on kill.
  • Haymaker: Double fiber/hay chance from weeds.

Innate Enchantments (Dragon Tooth): Apply one enchantment from each of two sets to melee weapons (sets detailed in original text).

Tool Enchantments: (List of enchantments and compatible tools detailed in original text). Choose the best enchantment based on your play style.
