Stellar Blade PC Version: Developer Speaks Out

Stellar Blade developer Shift Up has expressed its opinion about a potential PC version of the game being released in the future. Due to its partnership with publisher Sony, Stellar Blade launched as a PS5 exclusive and hasn't been officially announced for any other platform so far.

After rolling out in April, the action-adventure game accrued impressive sales numbers in tandem with a positive critical reception. In its launch month, Stellar Blade became the top-selling title in the US, ahead of popular competitors like Helldivers 2 and Dragon's Dogma 2. The post-apocalyptic game also holds an average OpenCritic rating of 82 based on 124 critic reviews.

According to GameMeca (via VGC), Shift Up recently made comments about porting Stellar Blade to PC during an IPO press conference. Company CEO and Stellar Blade director Kim Hyung-Tae said that the developer is "considering" a PC port of the game, but the "exact timing" or official confirmation for such a project couldn't be made at the current moment due to Shift Up's "contractual relationship." Meanwhile, CFO Jae-woo Ahn remarked that the "primary consumer base" of AAA titles has been moving towards PC. He added that the Korean developer is "currently looking at" Stellar Blade's possible jump to PC and that he expects the move could increase the value of the IP.

Stellar Blade's PC Port Looks Likely To Arrive

Last month, Shift Up's financial report revealed that the team was mulling over a Stellar Blade sequel and a PC release of the original game thanks to its overwhelmingly positive performance. Now, the latest comments from the CEO and CFO highlight the developer's continued interest in producing a PC version of the action-adventure title. Keeping in mind that Sony has also adopted a strategy in which it eventually launches its exclusive titles on PC, it wouldn't be a stretch to find Stellar Blade making the same move in the future. The console giant recently announced that God of War: Ragnarok will be the next PS5 exclusive to arrive on PC.

As the team at Shift Up decides on whether to pursue a PC port of Stellar Blade, it continues to optimize the experience for PS5 players. Unfortunately, the latest update resulted in certain graphical issues cropping up in Stellar Blade. However, the developer has acknowledged user reports about the problem and has assured players that a fix is currently in the works.
