Strategy Game Sequel Skips Xbox Game Pass

SteamWorld Heist 2 Officially Skips Xbox Game Pass Despite Earlier Claims

The upcoming SteamWorld Heist 2, a turn-based tactics strategy game, will not be launching on Xbox Game Pass, contrary to previous marketing materials. This was recently confirmed by the game's PR team, Fortyseven, who attributed the initial Game Pass announcement to an unintentional error.

The initial trailer released in April mistakenly included the Game Pass logo, leading to widespread belief that the game would be a Game Pass title. Subsequent social media posts mentioning Game Pass availability have since been removed.

While this news is sure to disappoint some Xbox Game Pass subscribers, SteamWorld Heist 2 will still launch on August 8th for PC, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.

This isn't the first time a game's Game Pass status has been incorrectly advertised. A similar incident occurred with Shin Megami Tensei 5: Vengeance, where a promotional image mistakenly included the Game Pass logo.

Despite the absence of SteamWorld Heist 2, Xbox Game Pass subscribers still have access to other SteamWorld titles, including SteamWorld Dig, SteamWorld Dig 2, and last year's day-one release, SteamWorld Build.

Furthermore, July is shaping up to be a strong month for Game Pass additions, with six confirmed day-one releases. These include Flock and Magical Delicacy (July 16th), Flintlock: The Siege of Dawn and Dungeons of Hinterberg (July 18th), Kunitsu-Gami: Path of the Goddess (July 19th), and the highly anticipated Frostpunk 2 (July 25th). While stylistically different from SteamWorld Heist 2, these diverse titles provide a range of gaming experiences for subscribers.
