Sydney Sweeney, known for her role in *Madame Web*, is set to star in the upcoming movie adaptation of the video game *Split Fiction*. The film is being developed by Story Kitchen, the same company behind the successful *Sonic* films, and is currently assembling a talented team to bring the game to the big screen. *Wicked* director Jon M. Chu is at the helm, with the screenplay penned by *Deadpool & Wolverine* writers Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick. The project is now being shopped around to Hollywood studios, sparking anticipation of a competitive bidding war.
While Sweeney's involvement is confirmed, the specific role she will play—either Zoe or Mio—remains undecided. *Split Fiction*, which launched in March and quickly became a hit for Hazelight and designer Josef Fares, sold over 2 million copies in its first week and is slated as a launch title for the Nintendo Switch 2.
IGN's review of *Split Fiction* awarded it a 9/10, praising it as "an expertly crafted co-op adventure that pinballs from one genre extreme to another, [offering] a rollercoaster of constantly refreshed gameplay ideas and styles – and one that’s very hard to walk away from."
Hazelight's success with *Split Fiction* follows on the heels of another of their games, *It Takes Two*, which sold 23 million copies and is also being adapted into a film, rumored to feature Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. While there's always a risk that these adaptations may not come to fruition, the current wave of successful video game movies suggests a strong interest from Hollywood.
Story Kitchen is not stopping at *Split Fiction*. Last year, they announced a film adaptation of Square Enix's *Just Cause*, with *Blue Beetle* director Ángel Manuel Soto attached. They are also working on adaptations of *Dredge: The Movie*, *Kingmakers*, *Sleeping Dogs*, and even a live-action *Toys 'R' Us* movie.
Meanwhile, Hazelight is already teasing their next game, keeping fans eagerly awaiting what's next from the innovative studio.
