Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members have just unlocked a fantastic new perk: the ability to stream select games directly to their consoles without the need for downloading. This exciting development was announced via an Xbox Wire news post, highlighting that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate members can now stream games from the Game Pass catalog and even some of their personally owned titles on their Xbox Series X, S, and Xbox One consoles through cloud streaming.
Previously, this cloud streaming feature was available on smart TVs, PCs, smartphones, and Meta Quest headsets, but its expansion to consoles marks a significant milestone. This feature allows users to bypass lengthy download times and conserve valuable hard drive space, enhancing their overall gaming experience.
To take advantage of this feature, Xbox users should navigate to My games & apps > Full library > Owned Games. Games that are available for cloud streaming will be marked with a cloud badge on their game page. To quickly find these games, users can apply filters by selecting Filter > Ready to play > Cloud gaming. Once you've chosen your game, simply hit Play with Cloud Gaming to start streaming. Additionally, you can begin streaming directly from the Store app after purchasing select cloud-playable games.
For those who prefer to stream games installed on their Xbox consoles to other devices, this is possible using supported web browsers through this link. Note that while this feature is no longer supported on the Xbox mobile app, it remains accessible on phones via the provided browser link. Xbox is actively working to extend this feature to Samsung and Amazon Fire smart TVs, as well as Meta Quest headsets.
In a further enhancement to the gaming experience, Xbox has announced that starting this month, Xbox and Xbox 360 backward compatible games will also support remote play.
